While the protests are underway in full speed in Dhaka city, the support wave for Yunus did not take long to reach Europe. A rally has been organized in Paris today. Frustrated by the Bangladeshi Government’s recent move about Yunus’ firing from his position, many showed up at Trocadero in Paris in solidarity to show him their support and put more pressure on the government. The Supreme Court of Bangladesh has postponed the hearing for two weeks due to some paperwork that needs to be finalized. This waiting time will be enough for protesters to organize big meetings. Another human chain for Yunus is expected to occur tomorrow on the 18th in Berlin in front of the Embassy of Bangladesh. The main emphasis was made on the fact that government has now 5 percent share and wants to control the whole GB. In the meantime, Hasina’s political rival Khaleda in her talk in the parliament supported Yunus and demanded a satisfying solution from the government indicating that Yunus may not eliminate poverty in Bangladesh but became a light for many rural women. There are some indications that meet-ups will spread to London as well.Wednesday, March 16, 2011
